This 2 story ocean view home was custom built by a Florida State Certified Residential Contractor. It sits on approximately 2.5 acres of manicured grounds with incredible ocean views from Manuel Antonio to Esterillos Este. It is located just 5 kilometers (3 miles) up a well maintained road and looks directly down at the breaking waves in the inlet at Playa Bejuco.
The upstairs boasts almost 2000 sq.ft. all tile floors, 2 master suites (16’x16’), and 2 baths with raised teak vanities and natural stone vanity tops. Both bedrooms are prewired for phone, cable, a/c and have ceiling fans with lights. The 19’x52’ living area has an L shaped kitchen on the sunset side of the room. The cabinets are hand built teak with natural stone counter tops. There is a corner lazy susan and a cabinet designed to hide a dishwasher. The electric range and refrigerator are Frigidaire and there is a microwave shelf above the range. There is a water supply at the fridge should you choose to add an icemaker. Lighting is by 2 ceiling fan/lights, 5 recess cans in the wood vaulted ceiling and a breakfast area light. On the sunrise side of the room is the living/entertainment area. There is a handmade teak corner entertainment center with a TV space 28h x 50w with cabinets below and shelves above with bookcases to both sides. This area is prewired for cable& phone; surround sound and exterior speaker wires for the porches terminate behind the cabinet. The satellite feed is in this area also. Lighting here is by 2 ceiling fan/lights and recess cans in the wood vaulted ceiling. A floor plug is also in place at this area.
Both kitchen/breakfast and entertainment areas have 9’ wide teak sliding French doors to take in the ocean views and ocean breezes.
Entrance to this home is from the Mountain View side up a 5’ wide tiled stairway to a 12.5’ x 19’ tiled porch. The Mountain View porch has 18’ wood vaulted ceilings with a ceiling fan/light and is prewired for outdoor speakers.
A 6’ teak double door with a hand carved palm tree in the center brings you into a large entryway with a hot water closet (40 gal. electric) on one side and a laundry room (hot/cold, dryer exhaust) on the other. This laundry room has storage above and is built to easily convert to a ½ bath. Looking straight through the house is another set of 6’ wide teak double French doors. You can look through the house from the Mountain View side and see the ocean. Above both of these doors have jalousie windows that go from the top of the doors to the peak of the 18’ wood vaulted ceilings. This allows the ocean and mountain breezes to blow straight through the house. The Oceanside porch is the entire length of the home (10’ x 53’), with 18’ wood vaulted ceilings. There are 3 ceiling fan/lights, 2 wall mount lights, and is prewired for outdoor speakers and another cable or satellite feed. Viewed from this porch, the sunrise behind the mountains of Manuel Antonio and the sunset to the west bring a kaleidoscope of color to the sky over the ocean every day. In the evening the lights of Playa Bandera, Parrita, Playa Palo Seco, Quepos and Manuel Antonio flicker in the night sky. You’ll never want to leave this porch.
Downstairs is a mirror image of the second story. It is unfinished but the baths are roughed in for water and septic and is prepiped for electricity. There is a sub panel for downstairs and a pipe is roughed in for a future pool. You can finish it the same as the second story. Just finish the bedrooms for 2 rental units and/or possibly put a ½ bath in the downstairs laundry room for a pool bath and screen in the rest of the area for a pool/entertainment/barbeque area. Also on the property is a 1 bed 1 bath cottage, 635 sq. ft. with a covered ocean view front porch with a ceiling fan and light. The cottage has a kitchen/breakfast room with satellite TV and a/c. There are two 6’ sliding glass doors opening to the porch. We lived in the cottage while building the house, currently the guard lives on-site in the cabana. Lil’ Jose has been with us since August 2005 and would be happy to maintain his employment with you if you desire, I recommend it.
The 2.5 acre grounds are manicured with many palms, flowers and fruit trees. We have planted over 50 palms of various types. There are plantain, banana, orange, grapefruit, lime, almond, fig, star fruit, quanabana, and avocado in varying stages of growth. There is also a road built to the lower part of the property where there is room for a stable or another home or rental unit. This is truly a one of a kind must see property. It has its own corporation so title transfer is quick and inexpensive.
I hereby declare that I know Mr. Peter Van Hussen, owner of Eco-Realtor Costa Rica Company, for more than 5 years.
During all that time, Peter has characterized himself, among other personal merits, for been a person who loves nature and for working actively in projects, programs, commissions and working groups related to nature preservation and to environmental conservation in general.
During all the years that I worked as an environmental advisor for the Central Pacific Chamber of Commerce and for the Municipality of Garabito County, both located in Jacó City, I could observe that Peter was regularly invited to be part of projects and working commissions that had to do –among other topics- with the reduction of the environmental pollution existing in the Garabito County due to untreated sewage waters, with conservation and restoration of the watersheds that exist in the mountain zone of the county, with the problems that exist in the coastal zone, with ecotourism development, with protection and development of the nearby national parks and equivalent reserves, and in general with sustainable development of Garabito.
In all these commissions and working groups, Peter stands out for his excellent ideas and for his very active participation, and for the personal experience he demonstrated because of the jobs he has had and because of the many trips he has taken in his life.

Peter was personally recommended to me by one of his peers – a successful real estate professional – and I quickly knew why. I realized that Peter’s ethics towards responsible stewardship of land was exactly what I was looking for in marketing my unusual property of virgin forest. He listened carefully and understood my desire to search for a buyer intending to preserve the forest in perpetuity, and he already had the connections to advertise to this type of client. I am very impressed by the weight Peter places in responsibility towards a sustainable environment as an integral part of his business.David Reuland
